Frequently Asked Questions

How do I extract a frame from a video?

It only takes a few seconds:

  1. Tap the + button on the home screen to select a video from your Photo Library.
  2. Swipe or drag the filmstrip at the bottom of the screen to scrub through the video frame by frame.
  3. When you've found the perfect moment, tap the Extract button.
  4. Your frame is saved to your Photo Library and to the in-app History.
What export quality options are available?

FrameClip offers three quality levels:

  • Ultra — Original resolution, lossless quality. Recommended for wallpapers and professional use.
  • High — Up to 1080p. Great for social sharing with a smaller file size.
  • Standard — Compressed for quick sharing and messaging.
Where are my extracted frames saved?

Extracted frames are saved in two places:

  • Photo Library — A copy is saved directly to your iPhone's Photos app so you can access it anywhere.
  • In-App History — A local archive is kept inside FrameClip, linked to the source video. You can browse, preview, or delete frames from the History tab.
Does FrameClip need an internet connection?

No. FrameClip is a fully offline app. All video processing and frame extraction happen entirely on your device. No data is ever sent to a server or the cloud.

Does FrameClip upload my videos or photos?

Never. Your media stays 100% on your device. FrameClip does not collect, transmit, or store any of your personal data or content. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

Why does FrameClip need Photo Library access?

FrameClip requires two types of Photo Library access:

  • Read — To let you browse and select videos from your library.
  • Write — To save your extracted frames back to your Photos app.

We only access the media you explicitly select. We never scan or read your entire library in the background.

How do I delete my extraction history?

Go to Settings → Clear All Data to remove all extraction history stored inside the app. This does not delete frames already saved to your Photo Library.

You can also delete individual frames by long-pressing them in the History tab and selecting Delete.

The app shows a black frame / incorrect frame. What should I do?

This can occasionally happen with certain video formats. Try these steps:

  1. Close and re-open FrameClip.
  2. Re-import the video from your Photo Library.
  3. If the issue persists, please contact us with the video format details (e.g., codec, resolution, FPS) so we can investigate.
